What makes a good CDR Summary Statement?

When you carefully analyse a CDR Summary Statement sample, you’ll find that it doesn’t include all of the indicators listed in each competency feature. It means that while you can refer to the EA metrics, units, and elements in your Career Episode, you don’t have to go over everything. In the Overview Statement, you analyze all of the metrics you’ve addressed in each of the three Career Episodes you’ve written.

The three types of indicators that you must aim to show are:

• Your engineering knowledge and skills
• Application of your engineering capabilities
• Your professional and personal characteristics

CDR Summary Statement Knowledge and Skills Base Preparation Tips

This segment is meant to be generic. You do not need to go into depth about your engineering or design work in this section; simply demonstrate that you have the necessary skills and can apply it to a variety of projects.

In the first element, you may only mention paragraphs that refer to just one indicator. However, it is better if you cover at least two indicators mentioned in the template above. It means that pick out two instances from CEs where you have demonstrated dexterity with that element.

Here’s a CDR Australia Summary Statement sample for the first element of the first section:

“I have demonstrated my engineering expertise and skills, as well as how I applied engineering fundamentals in systematic inquiry, interpretation, and analysis during various projects, in all three Career Episodes I have described in my CDR Report. I’ve also spoken about how I came up with creative ideas in response to complex problems that came my way.”
